Brinkmann is a font in Rotunda style. Rotunda is the more rounded variant
of Fraktur (blackletter) that was favoured in late medieval southern Europe.
It has a long s (ſ ) on the backslash character which should be used
in the middle of a word or syllable.
It is named after a former neighbour of mine, Wolfgang Brinkmann of Uelversheim,
graphics designer of a pre-digital age, signpainter and artist. He always liked
a good wine and a good joke and died surprisingly in 1999, a few days before
the beginning of Y2K. This font is similar to the kind of writing he used for inscriptions
on many houses in Uelversheim. It is dedicated to him for that bottle of Riesling wine
we eventually couldn't share any more.
